Two men arrested in connection with an alleged assault in Weymouth have been released without charge.

Sometime after 2.30pm on Sunday, January 7 it was reported a serious assault occurred in Carlton Road North.

Police said a local man aged in his 30s was allegedly shot in the face with what is believed to be an air weapon and suffered an injury to his eye.

The matter was reported to Dorset Police on Tuesday, March 13.

A local 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and a 23-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Following a detailed investigation by detectives, they have both now been released without charge.
