Get ready to light up the night as the Dorset Neon Run returns to Weymouth.

Lodmoor Country Park will once again be full of colour and lights to raise funds for Diverse Abilities, a Dorset-based charity supporting children and adults living with disabilities.

Participants can walk, run, dance or skip around the 5k route and will be provided with glow sticks, bracelets and neon paint to help them glow as they go and all participants will receive a branded event t-shirt with their neon bling.

Lauren McCullough, events manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “We are encouraging local people to sign up, grab their head torches and neon bling to light up the night while supporting many children and adults living with disabilities in Dorset. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a runner, the aim is to have fun and go at your own speed – and if that means walking that’s good with us.”

Diverse Abilities is the only charity that supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities in Dorset. They provide a range of assistance, support and education services for young people from birth to age 19, adults with disabilities, and their families.

Last year was the debut event at Lodmoor and saw more than 100 runners take to the park raising around £5,000 in sponsorship.

This year the Dorset Neon Run will take place on Saturday, September 8 and is open to anyone over the age of 12.

On the night, runners will get a fun and funky warm up with a 'clubbercise' instructor and music will be provided by Wessex FM, as they register in the event tent.

Registration for the event is £20 and Diverse Abilities said all they ask is you raise what you can.
