POLICE investigating an alleged rape of a woman on Portland have arrested a man.
They are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
Police were called to reports that a woman had been raped by a man in the early hours of Friday, April 24.
The victim, a 24-year-old local woman, was allegedly assaulted at an address in the A354 Chiswell area before she waited on the road outside for a taxi at around 6.45am.
Detective Constable Declan Cummings, of Weymouth CID, said: “I am keen to speak with anyone who saw the victim in this area after the alleged assault.
“In particular, I would like to speak with the woman who saw the victim waiting for a taxi near to the Cove House Inn while heading toward Weymouth as she may be able to help with my enquiries.
“I would also urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward.”
A 30-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of rape and has been bailed until the end of June 2015.
