ANYONE interested in wildlife spotting is invited to sign up for the People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) Mammals on Roads survey.

The survey runs until the end of September and involves volunteers up and down the country recording sightings of any mammals, dead or healthy, that they spot on their car journeys via their mobile phones and tablets.

PTES has a free app that people can download to record their sightings on interactive online maps and is keen to get as many people as possible involved.

Each car journey must be 20 miles or more on single-carriageways in one day.

PTES says the survey findings will prove vital in helping to monitor the changing state of Britain’s wildlife populations.

For those without smartphones but keen to take part, the survey can be completed online at www.ptes.org/get-involved For more information about the scheme or to request a pack e-mail mor@ptes.org or call 02074 984533.
