Shoppers have been evacuated from Poole's Dolphin Shopping Centre.
The fire service were called at 2.17pm with reports of a fire at the Real China restaurant.
Three crews have attended along with an officer and they located the fire in the kitchen in the first floor of the Dolphin Shopping Centre.
They used two sets of breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire which is now out.
John Grinnell, Dolphin Centre manager said: βAt 2.25pm today a fire was reported at Real China. For precaution, the shopping centre was evacuated and the fire brigade were on the scene immediately to contain the incident.β
