A MAN has made himself known to police and is helping them with their enquiries following a CCTV appeal.

Earlier this week police released an image of a man they wanted to speak to regarding a sexual assault in Weymouth.

The investigation relates to a sexual assault that occurred in an alleyway near to the bowling green in Greenhill Gardens at around 12.45am on Friday, October 21.

A 67-year-old man from Weymouth has come forward to police and has been helping them with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made.

At around 12.45am on Friday, October 21, the victim, a local woman in her 30s, was walking along the Esplanade when she was approached by a man.

The man said to her that there was another person on the beach that needed help.

She then accompanied him past the Pier Bandstand toward Greenhill.

As they approached an alleyway near to the bowling green the man pushed the victim against a wall and sexually assaulted her.

She managed to push him away and make her way home.
