ONE of Weymouth’s biggest and brightest fundraisers is returning this spring - and if that wasn’t fun enough, it will be followed by a brand new bubble-filled event.

Weldmar Hospicecare’s third colour run will be held on Saturday, May 6 and will see 2,000 people run through a number of colour stations over a 4km course, while being attacked with brightly coloured powder paint as they pass through.

And the next day there will be a brand new event to Dorset, when Weldmar introduces the Bubble Rush on Sunday, May 7. In this event, participants will pass through various bubble stations as they run their way through a corridor of brightly coloured foam.

The Bubble Rush also has the capacity for 2,000 participants and organisers believe both events are going to sell out. Both events are being sponsored and supported by Meyers Estate Agents.

Between them, the events will bring together over 4,000 supporters to Lodmoor Country Park.

Matt Smith, Weldmar’s event manager said: “The response to both events has already been fantastic. Our first wave for the Bubble Rush is now full - so we are now accepting registrations for the next wave at 12.15pm.

“The Colour Run is now a staple event in Weymouth and we are incredibly pleased to be offered this again in 2017. We are also still accepting registrations for this and, if people book quickly, they can run at a discounted rate for a limited time only.”

As well as the two main events, there will be live music throughout the two days, along with locally-produced food and drink on sale, and activities for children.

Matt added: “The response to both of these events is already fantastic and We advise that people register early to avoid missing out. The Colour Run has sold out each year we have held it and we believe that this year will be no different.”

Over the past two years the Colour Run has attracted more than 3,000 participants, many from outside of Dorset, boosting the economy for the town for both B&Bs and restaurants. The 2017 events will cater for up to 4,000 participants over the weekend, along with friends and family, making May 5 and 7 a very big weekend in Weymouth.

All the money raised from the 2017 Colour Run and Bubble Rush will go towards funding the continuation of the care and support Weldmar provides to patients and their loved ones throughout Dorset.

Weldmar needs to raise £10,240 every single day of the year to provide its care for free to patients and their families.

So far Weldmar’s Colour Runs have raised more than £160,000.
