TRAINS on the Weymouth to Bristol line should be back to normal tomorrow after the line is cleared of a derailed freight train.

Wagons were due to be clear and the track repaired at East Somerset Junction by 10pm tonight (Friday), according to Network Rail.

The derailment involving several 100-tonne wagons carrying stone aggregate happened at the junction near Frome on Monday night.

A huge clear-up operation has been going on round the clock to clear the obstruction and carry out repairs.

'Significant damage' was caused to the railway, with track and sleepers ripped up.

The blockage meant the line had been closed to all trains throughout the week, with buses laid on for passengers between Castle Cary and Frome/Westbury.
