DON’T forget – the clocks spring forward an hour tomorrow with the beginning of British Summer Time.

Daylight Saving Time returns which means we can look forward to lighter evenings as winter fades away.

Clocks change at 1am Sunday, which means many will lose an hour of their Sunday lie-in.

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) resumes on October 29 when the clocks go back.

While many electronic devices will change automatically tomorrow morning, many clocks will have to be wound on by hand, something Fred Burgess of Clockhouse Jewellers in Dorchester knows all about.

He and his staff will have to change more than 30 clocks and watches in store, plus more which have been brought in for repair.

“It’s a lengthy process which almost takes all day, in between cups of tea of course,” said Fred.

“The process is more difficult in winter because we have to stop them all first, but with BST we just move them forward.”

Clockhouse Jewellers was launched by Fred’s parents in 1963 and he started as an apprentice soon after.
