MAYORS from across Dorset joined Dorchester’s first citizen Tess James for a stroll around the county town.

Councillor James, third from left, front row, who will soon hand over her mayoral chain to Andy Canning, hosted a civic afternoon to show fellow dignitaries some of the latest developments taking place in Dorchester.

The Dorset Mayors were joined by the Mayor of Yeovil, the High Sheriff of Dorset and chairmen of the county council and the local district councils.

They enjoyed a visit to the Brewery Square development where they heard about progress on the project from developer Andrew Wadsworth.

The group also took a trip to Dorset County Museum to take in the new Pliosaur Gallery and learn about the museum’s future plans from director Jon Murden before enjoying a Dorset tea at the Borough Gardens House.

The tea was made and served by Dorset Youth Association and Dennis Holmes spoke on the refurbishment of Borough Gardens.
