PHOTOGRAPHS of walks are going on show at Dorchester Library until Saturday, June 23.

They show the variety of the places visited from the stations on the Weymouth to Bristol line on ramblers’ organised walks.

Susan Blake, one of the leaders, said: “I have been leading for the Wessex Wanderer for 13 years.

“I have never completely repeated a walk although inevitably there are sometimes not many options as to how you leave and return to a station. “If there is time, we also have our favourite places for the post-walk cup of tea – or something stronger – before catching the train which is good for the local economy.”

The programme of walks has been running for over 15 years and is organised and led by members of the ramblers. Funding has come from the four ramblers’ areas involved – Avon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire – with support from the Heart of Wessex Community Rail Partnership and First Great Western. Programmes are available from tourist information centres or by visiting avon-ramblers.org.ukwessex.

Anyone interested can also send a stamped addressed envelope to the Walks Co-ordinator, 133 Congygre Grove, Filton, Bristol BS34 7HX.
