BY MERSEY MOORE

I RECENTLY auditioned and was offered a part in the BBC drama Casualty and filming took place in Cardiff over a two week period.

It was an amazing experience for me and my mum, Melanie, and one I won’t forget.

I wasn’t sure what to expect as a majority of the things I have done before have been stage and musical theatre, performing in various pantomimes, and recently I was in the choir that performed in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in Weymouth.

At least with TV, if you go wrong you can do it again, but on stage it’s just the one take.

The first few days were spent out on location and, although it was very cold, we carried on as we were kept warm in thick coats and blankets and fuelled with endless teas and coffees.

I was given my own trailer for when we were out on location and I also had my own makeup artist and wardrobe person.

I was totally spoilt and we even had a driver to take us to all the different locations and the studio.

For the remainder of the time we were filming on set I would hang out in either my dressing room or the green room where Lloyd Everitt would fight over who got the most biscuits.

Everybody on set, cast and crew, were really friendly. Crystal Yu and Amanda Henderson kept making me laugh during close-ups and serious scenes.

I think my mum’s favourite was Charles Venn, who made her day when he posed for a picture and gave her a signed photo.

I was able to show a range of different emotions as the part I had to play went through quite a lot.

The saddest part for me was finishing filming and leaving.

I absolutely loved it all and a tear nearly came down from my eye when they said “and that’s a wrap for Mersey”.

Everyone really made my time at Casualty special and I would like to thank each and every one of them.

Hopefully my story will inspire some of you out there who love to act and perform as much as I do, but it does take hard work.

The episode was filmed back in March and it airs on BBC1 tonight. I hope you can watch!

You can see Mersey in her Casualty episode, entitled 'The Fear' on BBC One at 9.25pm tonight.
