One problem I, and presumably many others, face is that it is quite difficult to avoid food that is bad for you.
I would support a sugar tax as I believe obesity and diabetes is a common problem in not only Dorset, but counties across the UK.
I find it extremely easy to grab a snack on the go and walk away without a second thought, especially with items such as fizzy drinks, chocolate and fast food.
This should not be the case as obesity, alongside diabetes, is one of the world’s leading causes of preventable death. I feel the Government is taking the right course of action to help reduce child obesity.
I think that we should enforce clearer food labelling, include healthier foods in leisure centres and schools and support businesses in making products healthier.
I feel there should be a levy on soft drinks and that at least 20 per cent of sugar in junk food should be removed.
I believe that we, as students, require more education on nutrition and to learn that we should never take healthy food for granted.
