Our beautiful area of Weymouth and Portland relies heavily on the tourist trade.

Why not present all those booking a holiday here with a quiz, possibly making their time here more energetic and mentally stimulating.

Suggestions of questions that might be included could be:- 1: What are the mushroom like structures that stand in a puddle near Littlemoor roundabout (I call them the Littlemoor lollipops) and what is their purpose?

2: Hunt the ‘Welcome to Weymouth’ pineapples, which used to stand at the top of the Ridgeway and were moved out of the way near the park and ride site, where most arriving by road wouldn’t seen them.

3: Name the different coloured ugly posts spread along the Esplanade and guess their purpose. Those with young children, who, during the light nights of summer, put the youngsters to bed when it gets dark, would never guess they were laser lights.

4: Name the reason for the underpass at King Street/ Esplanade Junction (the drain) and find out why there is no exit to the beach side.

5: Work out the logic behind the rotation of the Asda traffic lights (kamikaze junction).

If any visitor/holidaymaker can correctly answer all these questions the prize could be a holiday here. G Day Benville Road Weymouth
