DEATHS and accidents seem a daily occurrence on Weymouth roads since the installation of the Olympic traffic system.

A road network intended to move up to 35,000 vehicles a day in the height of the Olympics which never came about has caused more harm than good to the town.

Rocketing levels of pollution due to vehicles in jams lead to minor roads being used as main routes to bypass them.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, as usual, has stood back and passed the blame to Dorset County Council which in turn has blamed the poor motorists who have to sit for up to 20 minutes at a time in queues.

It begs the question are the councils, who we pay, actually bothering to listen anymore to their paymasters or is it the truth they have grown far to big for their boots given themselves grandiose titles and are now tin pot gods who fear no retribution?
