I’m no fan of the Tories, but Green Parliamentary Candidate Jane Burnet’s comments about Richard Drax’s expense claims (Echo, October 3) might be more credible were it not for the fact that the Green Party’s own MP, Caroline Lucas, claimed £163,601 in total expenses last year, against Richard Drax’s £146,452.
Incredibly, despite living in Brighton, just an hour on a fast rail line from London, she spent £1,600 more on travel and £4,183 more on accommodation.
It’s ironic that Mrs Burnet recently castigated us all for not travelling by bus, when it’s clear she wishes to travel by gravy train.
