May I be permitted to acknowledge the immense generosity of some of our local companies that give so much in the name of charity. In particular – and the most recent – the Lions’ annual Weymouth Beach Motocross that depends on such help and support.
Long after the races had finished on Sunday, the local firm of G. Crook & Sons was busy restoring the beach to its original state. The firm charges the Lions absolutely nothing in creating the race course nor when it clears up afterwards.
Another local firm with which I am also impressed is Portland’s Dave Beavis Haulage. Why?
Because I counted at least four of this company’s large ar-ticulated lorries in this year’s Weymouth Carnival procession, making it possible for groups of adults and children to be part of the resort’s big day out.
Do you know something?
Without such freely given goodwill, our much-loved events would not take place. I really do hope that we are all appreciative of free events such as the two I have mentioned and that, in appreciation, we fill the coll-ecting boxes so that people who need help can be helped.
