How encouraging to read ‘Lots to be proud of’ (Have Your Say, October 3). We seem to have a little band of negative thinkers who find fault with everything. Positive thinking is, I think, very good for one’s wellbeing.
So I would say to people unhappy in their thinking: think Greenhill Gardens; the Bowling Green; putting Green; tennis courts; attractive Brunswick Terrace; Frederick Place; think sandy beach; safe sea; views across the bay; Weymouth Harbour; The Nothe; Newton’s Cove; Sandsfoot.
I celebrated my 90th birthday with friends last week at a delightful cocktail bar on the Esplanade. It was almost the end of season, but did Weymouth look tired? Not a bit. The hotels’ displays of flowers were still wonderful, clean steps, everything so fresh. I really do congratulate the hoteliers for their hard work. What a privilege to visit the Sailing Academy, the Cove at Chesil, the sculpture park and enjoy the view from Portland Heights.
We really are so blessed living here. Good doctors surgeries, schools, places of worship. Enjoy your life here and think about what there is to be proud of.
