Another “crackdown” and yet more ‘kerbside education’ for all those speeding motorists who think they are immune from accidents – fatal or otherwise. Ho, ho, ho. You see, I can’t quite make my mind up whether it is me or the police who are delusional?
Probably the police who continue to believe that by giving speeding motorists a stiff talking to at the kerbside, they will ever make a difference and will actually stop far too many motorists who think that it is acceptable to treat A roads, B roads or any other road as alternative speed tracks.
No, the only way to stop the ongoing carnage on our roads is fines. And not a few quid.
Hitting these people in their pockets (or in some circumstances, taking their licences away for a period) is where the lesson will be learnt.
After all, we’ve had numerous ‘crackdowns’ on our roads for decades and millions of pounds of tax-payers’ cash expended on fancy advertising – but still the death toll rises year on year.
Thousands of people will continue to be killed on the roads every year until most motorists are taught a hard lesson via large on-the-spot fines and the confiscation of driving licences.
Nothing else will do. Certainly not more ‘kerbside education’!
