There has to be increasing concern about the way local young people are obliged to work for 'peanuts' on zero hour contracts here in Weymouth and Portland and in Dorset generally. Zero hour contracts are the bane of young people, because they make it impossible for them to budget on life's bare necessities from week to week.

So Mr. Drax how would you vote in Parliament if there was legislation to stop employers using zero hour contacts ? Secondly, as a matter of principle what's your position on paying people a living wage ie enough to sustain life in one of the richest developed countries in the world ? No more of this 'our economy is in recovery' because of our good management of public finances : when so many are seeing little improvement to their families' financial position. There is nothing near a fair share out of this 'recovery'. Perhaps Richard Drax would be kind enough to publicly outline his position on local wages and zero hour contracts?

Interesting how the Paxman interrogation on Sky and Channel Four of the two potential Prime Ministers has blown the right wing media's attempted character assassination of Ed Miliband out of the water. The media's blatant attempt to discredit him as Prime Ministerial material was always a ploy to secure a Tory victory on May 7th. No wonder that David Cameron has refused a televised face to face debate with Ed Miliband!

Finally, Iain Bruce has got it absolutely wrong on the railways. British Rail were actually getting there , before the Tories' ideologically driven privatisation fragmented the rail industry. When polled even a majority of Conservative voters can see the good sense in running a nationally coherent rail network. The probability of disruption of rail services over Easter is yet another pointer against privatisation.Undoubtedly, the railways in Britain will eventually be taken back into some form of accountable public ownership, because we cannot carry on with the current fractured chaos indefinitely. Well done to the Green Party for having the courage to say so.
