As a regular library user at South Walks house, and someone who also spent an entire Saturday at the recent count there, I have a few queries to WDDC regarding the quality of installations in the building.

I expect the toilets are meant to be water saving low-flush so do not expect Niagara, but I always find the push buttons impossible to operate. It might be because my old thumbs are getting stiff, but on Saturday, judging by the wads of loo roll in the pan, the two previous occupants had had the same problem.

It was a sunny day and the building soon became rather stuffy, though admittedly there were many people there. A friend told me she had spotted fans on some of the desks in the offices. If this is so, does it mean the air conditioning is not working properly? How high were the specs for the building and were they met to the Council's satisfaction?

I ask, because we know Simons have asked for, and received more local tax payers' money to continue the development of Charles' Street, and have already cut back on the original plan.

A quick googling reveals that there appear to have been similar problems elsewhere. They abandoned a two tower development in Leeds when the market crashed. North Herts cancelled a project with them when asked for more money. There is a planning application for change of use at a unit in North Lincolnshire Shopping Park that they have not been able to let, and a visitor on their Facebook page has asked them when new necessary traffic lights - towards which according to the post, they promised £500k - will materialise.

I did ask Robert Gould about the toilets on Saturday and he has promised to look into them! I do hope this WDDC project won't prove to be money down the pan.
