THE EU referendum by 2017 will throw up lots of arguments for and against staying within the EU, but the way hard facts are disseminated to voters and the actual vote regulations will be fundamental to the ultimate result.

If voters have to rely on the right of centre tabloids to inform them they will be disappointed because Rupert Murdoch and co have their own anti-European agenda, which will lead to yet more misinformation.

This Government also have their own agenda of renegotiation , but the proposed voting regulations are also likely to have a potentially profound effect on the result. It is appalling that EU nationals will be stopped from casting their ballot.

There is a thriving Polish community living in Weymouth who have their families here and work in local concerns and pay their taxes to the UK Government.

So why on earth can't they vote? In other member states there are 400,000 Brits living and working there and paying their taxes to those member states. Will they have the vote?

Then there's young people who have as much at stake as anybody in Britain's future in the EU. 16 and 17 year olds won't be able to vote and yet in the Scottish Independence Referendum they could. How does that work for heaven's sake ?

I'm sick and tired of how the Eurosceptic right in this country have dictated things with their isolationist anti-EU rhetoric.

It's high time that us pro-Europeans joined battle with those who would turn back the clock in Britain. The British Empire finally died at Suez.

Long live the new era of co-operation.
