MAY I, through the pages of the Dorset Echo, express my thanks on behalf of the Coastwatch team to Nick Doherty, the new owner of the Ocean Hotel, Southwell, for coming to the rescue at such short notice when our recent reception, which was to be held at the Portland Bill lookout, was hit by bad weather.
We had planned for Richard Drax MP to switch on our newly-installed solar panels and unveil a plaque whilst inviting local groups who had made the project possible. Not only did Nick provide the delightful venue with stunning sea views, he donated all beverages for the 60 guests.
To anyone who hasn’t been to the hotel recently, might I suggest they visit for coffee or book for dinner? I am sure they would be impressed by the venue, decor and warm welcome, ignore the adjacent scaffolding of the academy building work, it can only get better and become a real asset to Portland.
Thank you Nick for helping our charity out in our hour of need.
Geoff Peters Station Manager.
Furzy Close,
Preston Weymouth
