Richard Drax must live on a different planet to the many of his constituents desperately struggling to make ends meet.
The latest figures show an average family is paying £400 more a month for essentials than a year ago.
Yet after the government announced additional energy support worth just £400 a year, Mr Drax launched a scathing attack on Chancellor Rishi Sunak in the House of Commons.
He accused him of “throwing red meat to socialists”. (Echo 26 May)
Doesn’t he know that many of his constituents can never afford red meat! In fact many are forced to rely on food banks, are going hungry to feed their kids, and have to chose between food or fuel.
Rather than ideological attacks, surely it is time Mr Drax used his position as MP to help his constituents most in need.
