THE Magpies must put their FA Cup exploits to one side and focus solely on this afternoon’s return to league duty.

That is the view of midfield ace Jamie Gleeson, who is desperate to preserve the county town outfit’s unblemished record at the Greene King IPA Community Stadium.

To date, Dorchester Town have recorded eight wins from as many games on home turf and are hoping to be on cloud nine after today’s visit of Tonbridge Angels (3pm).

But to achieve a ninth successive victory, Gleeson and his team-mates must first suppress the excitement building ahead of next weekend’s first round tie with Plymouth Argyle.

The 27-year-old, who is today expected to make his 275th appearance for the club, said: “We’ve got a league game today and we need to focus on that because we are still doing okay in the league.

“We also want Plymouth to fear us a bit so if we could go into the cup game with our 100 per cent home record intact it would be great and it would give them something to think about.”

Gleeson is currently in the form of his life, forging an excellent partnership with Ashley Nicholls in the middle of the park.

He added: “I’m playing well and, touch wood, injury-free.

“That hasn’t always been the case in recent years as I have had a lot of niggles and problems with my knee.

“But now I’m doing a lot of work on my core stability to help prevent injuries and make myself stronger so that I don’t get injured easily.

“I’m really enjoying this season, regardless of the cup run. Phil Simkin and Stuart Heath have done really well and Stuart has come in with lots of good ideas.

“We have had a good start to the season, we just need to do a bit better with our away form.”

Dorchester currently lie fifth in Blue Square Bet South while their opponents sit 18th.
