DAVE Kiteley has admitted he is not sure quite what to expect tomorrow when his side attempts to play its first game in more than six weeks and only their second in nearly four months.

The Magpies will be excused for being a bit rusty when they take on Winchester City at the Avenue (7.45pm) in what is set to be only their 11th game of a Wyvern Premier League season blighted by postponements.

On nearly every occasion it has been the weather that has scuppered fixtures, however, last week’s opponents Bashley were unable to raise a team, something Magpies’ boss Kiteley was not happy with.

“The game tomorrow is definitely on unless we have the same situation we had last week where Bashley couldn’t raise a team,” he said. “There was nothing wrong with the pitch last Tuesday and I thought it was a bit embarrassing they didn’t have enough players.

“I wasn’t happy with it and we should have been awarded the points, but it has got to be played and it’s another game that has to be rearranged.

“But I’ve had my say and that’s gone now.

“I’d have put money on Saturday’s game at Moneyfields being on but then I got a call in the morning to say half the pitch was unplayable which I found strange seeing that we’d had no rain since the Tuesday.

“Moneyfields could have informed the league earlier and maybe we could have played a rearranged fixture or held the game at our place because we haven’t played them at home yet.

“It just seems there hasn’t been a lot of common sense used.”

Kiteley confirmed that the likes of Steve Walker, Calvin Brooks, Dan Way and Lewis Morgan will all feature tonight after sitting on the bench for the first team at Truro on Tuesday night.

But the club’s new on-loan keeper from Bournemouth, Liechtenstein international Benjamin Büchel, will not be involved.

Those that are involved, however, just want to put the frustrations of the last few months behind them.

Kiteley added: “Everybody is bursting for a game.

“We’ve trained and trained and trained and it has got really monotonous.

“A couple of the lads have had games for the likes of Chickerell and Shaftesbury but apart from those the rest haven’t been playing.

“I don’t really know what to expect tonight.

“There’s the state of the pitch, our opponents, who I know nothing about, then there is how the players are going to perform after so long without a game.

“Calvin Brooks hasn’t kicked a ball since late November and our keeper Dan Floyd before that. Everyone is frustrated but we are all ready to go.”
