SHERBORNE RESERVES 0 WEYMOUTH RESERVES 0

JAKE Richmond did not have much to say following this bore draw at second-bottom Sherborne Town Reserves in Magna Dorset Premier League.

The joint-boss was happy with the clean sheet in the goalless stalemate but admitted his Terras created very little going forward.

“It was an awful game from start to finish and we looked very leggy from the defeat against Swanage last Wednesday night,” said Richmond.

“I left Matt Morley and Sean Zima out and tried to freshen it up a bit with a couple of younger ones but the pitch was horrendous and it wasn’t really conducive to passing football.

“As a result we had to try and get the ball forward early, which is not really our game, and in the end we didn’t create a single clear-cut chance.

“In fact, they only had two, one which Jamie Perry saved and another which was slid past the near post - apart from that it was pretty dull.”

This latest performance and the loss against the Swans is far from ideal preparation for the Terras ahead of this Saturday’s Dorset Premier League Cup semi-final clash against Portland United at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

The Terras have lost against the title-chasing Blues once already this season and Richmond reckons they will need to sharpen up to stand any chance of pulling off a shock this weekend.

He added: “If we play like that against Portland we will get murdered, it is as simple as that.

“They are by far and away the favourites this Saturday and we will need a much-improved performance just to live with them.

“I think conceding that late goal in the defeat against Swanage after battling back to 2-2 has knocked our confidence a bit and it is clear we need to get back on it and quick.”

Weymouth Reserves remain eighth in the table, just four points adrift of the top six.

Terras: Perry, Sharpe, B Doidge, Beals, Harvey, Camp, Winsper, Clarke, Brown (Morley 60), Bell (Frame 50), Sanchez-Baker (Zima 65).
