THE Terras’ play-off ambitions face a huge test tomorrow against in-form Chesham United at the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm).

Following last Saturday’s 5-0 humbling at the hands of Stourbridge, Weymouth will be desperate to make amends this weekend but with the Generals just three points adrift of them with a game in hand a tough battle is in prospect.

Terras’ boss Brendon King, whose side remain fifth in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division, told Echosport: “They are unbeaten in their last nine league games and are on a bit of a roll, so it’s a massive match for both sides.

“I actually went and watched them on Tuesday night when they won at Bashley 3-1 and they are a decent side.

“They have got some very good players and going forward they are particularly decent.

“They have got some big, powerful lads up front and they break well from midfield, so we are certainly going to have to be right on it from the start.

“We did beat them at their place earlier in the season when we performed really well and we are going to need something similar again.

“They have been there or thereabouts for a few years now and were in the play-offs last year, so they know what it takes.

“Both sides also know that they cannot afford to lose this one, so it promises to be a really tough game and hopefully we will respond in the right way.”

King hit out at his players after last weekend’s debacle, which brought an end to a five-game winning streak.

Reflecting on the performance further, he added: “We were all pretty hurt after the game but overall the lads have been exceptional the last few months.

“In fact, the last time we played like that was against Shortwood United in the FA Trophy at the end of October, so such poor displays have really been few and far between.

“No team can afford to carry seven or eight players that are not performing on the day and at Stourbridge we got punished for exactly that. But apart from that the boys have been right on it so it is important not to be too critical.

“Hopefully, it was just a one-off and they will respond by showing a bit of character tomorrow.”

Kyle Critchell will be the only absentee for the Terras through injury but the game will be Ed Palmer and Craig Duff’s last before they serve two and three-match suspensions respectively.
