ST GEORGE’S will meet Charlton Down in the final of this year’s Knockout Cup after seeing off last season’s runners-up Dewlish by eight wickets.

Rich Cole took 4-31 as Dewlish, currently one point ahead of St George’s in Division One, were bowled out for a disappointing 85.

And the reigning league champions had little bother getting the 86 they needed to reach the final, which takes place at the Rec in Dorchester this Friday evening.

Sam Goodhew finished the innings unbeaten on 28, eclipsing Steve Hillier’s top score for Dewlish (23).

In the league, Dewlish head the standings in the top tier after a 10-run victory over Cerne Valley.

Dan Belt’s 63 not out took Dewlish to 157-5 batting first then Belt proved to be the match winner with ball, taking 4-25 as Cerne, for whom Alex Healey scored 47, could only manage 147-6.

It was Cerne’s second defeat in a short space of time as, despite Matt Rimmer’s 5-34, they went down to Martinstown.

The standout match in Division Two was between the top two with Hazelbury Bryan edging out Bere Regis by just nine runs.

Stunning figures of 6-36 from Mark Lewis kept Bere to 125-8 as they chased Hazelbury’s 134-7, during which Alfie Fitzgerald fell one short of a half-century.

Puddletown picked up a third win of the season, this one coming against cup finalists Charlton Down by 25 runs.

Batting first, Puddletown made 151-1, Lucas Allen contributing an unbeaten 75, before Charlton reached 126-8 at the close, with 59 for Jon Butterworth.

Plush’s winning run goes on in Division Three, their latest success coming by eight wickets over Puddletown RFC.

Meanwhile, in good form for Winfrith Seconds was Simon Goldsack, whose 45 not out and 2-16 saw his side home against Charlton Down Seconds.
