THE Andy Murray factor certainly seems to have had a big impact on junior tennis in Weymouth this summer.
Numbers are up at Julien Lawes’ summer tennis camps and there is still time for youngsters to enjoy the coaching on offer.
The last two camps of the holidays are being held this week – today and Thursday – at the Wey Valley School sports hall for children aged four to 15.
But the action will continue once the youngsters are back in the classroom with after-school squads meeting up at the Wey Valley Tennis Centre in September.
Speaking about this year’s summer camps, instructor Ryan Bissett said: “They have been very successful with each session well attended.
“We play tennis in the morning then another sport to mix things up a bit and do more tennis after that.
“We are getting children coming to the camps that haven’t played tennis before, which is great.
“We’ll be going back inside for the after-school sessions in September and there will be a chance for the kids that are doing well to go on further.”
