BRENDON King reckons this afternoon’s derby clash at Poole Town (1.30pm) will be his side’s biggest test to date.

The Terras moved to the top of the Calor Southern Premier Division on Saturday with a 3-0 home win over Redditch United but today’s short trip to Tatnam is likely to prove much tougher.

Weymouth boss King told Echo-sport: “It is going to be a massive game there is no doubt about that.

“Not only is it a local derby in which several players will be playing against their former team, but it is also going to be both sides’ fourth game in just 10 or so days.

“Their pitch is also quite big and they play it well, so without doubt it is going to be our toughest test of the season so far.”

The occasion will also mark Tommy Killick’s 500th game in charge of the Dolphins, who also boast a 100 per cent record so far and sit just one place behind the Terras on goal difference.

An own goal and efforts from Sam Poole and Luke Burbidge did the damage against Redditch but King still thinks his side can play much better.

He added: “I was happy with the victory and the clean sheet but I still think there is more to come.

“I wasn’t happy at half-time because I felt we could have passed the ball a lot better than we did. We also didn’t test their keeper enough but in the second half I thought the performance was much improved.

“We immediately went out and got the second goal and from there we were always in control and could have had a few more.”

When asked what the secret has been to his side’s flying start, King continued: “I think the balance of the side looks good but the main thing has been the tremendous work rate we have shown because that is what sets the tone.

“Our fitness levels were superb again against Redditch and when you see players still closing down up to the very last minute it is very pleasing indeed.

“At the moment the boys cannot wait for the next game but it is vital we keep doing all the right things because at the end of the day you cannot win anything in August.”

*Weymouth ace Kyle Critchell has been admitted to hospital due to complications surrounding his back injury. His family would like to thank the club’s fans for their continued support and best wishes, and the club will be providing updates on any further developments.
