BRENDON King has no fears surrounding Stewart Yetton’s mindset ahead of tonight’s clash at Bideford (7.45pm).

The Calor Southern Premier Division encounter could see the 28-year-old forward come up against former Weymouth defender Ben Gerring for the first time since they were involved in a training ground bust-up at Truro City back in April.

Not only did the fracas leave Gerring with a broken jaw but it also brought Yetton’s record-breaking stay at Treyew Road to an abrupt end following 226 goals in 315 appearances.

Gerring has since moved to Bideford and although he missed last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Bashley due to a knock, he could return this evening when the Terras will be keen to get back to winnings ways following two successive draws.

Weymouth boss King told Echosport: “Apparently Ben has been recovering from a knock on the ankle but is hoping to start this evening along with Craig Duff, who was with us last season.

“Bideford is a tough place to go on a Tuesday night but it has to be done and it is up to us to go there and be professional and do a job.

“Both teams have identical records in the league and we know what we are going to get when we get there.

“Not only do they like to get in your face and stop you playing but they also get the ball forward quickly so it is vital we are ready for that.

“It’s going to be a big test but I am confident the lads will rise to it.”

When asked whether he will be having a special word with Yetton ahead of kick-off, King added: “There’s no need. Stewart is very professional and I know he will be doing all he can to help us win the game.

“He is a sensible and level-headed lad and knows that what went on with him and Ben last season has nothing to do with Weymouth FC.

“Basically it is all water under the bridge and there really is no need to mention it again.”

Barry McConnell (groin) and Danny Clay (knee) are both doubts for the Terras but King is hopeful they will be fit to feature. Simon Evans, Michael Walker, Kyle Critchell and Jamie Symes all remain sidelined.

Weymouth and Bideford currently sit fourth and third respectively and are two of only three teams in the league that remain unbeaten.

Terras: Matthews, Tewkesbury, N Walker, Poole, McConnell, Wells, S Walker, Clay, Winsper, Burbidge, Wood, Chainey, Joyce, Yetton, Ford, Groves.
