DORCHESTER Town’s new commercial director believes the Magpies have what it takes to be a community-owned club.

Richard Coole boasts a wealth of experience in senior director roles at the Mercia Group and Hanson Trust and was co-opted on to the Magpies’ board earlier this week.

And the man who formed and ran a successful international company of his own is looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of him at the Avenue.

“I’m delighted to be joining Dorchester Town Football Club,” he said. “I have been following the club since moving to the area six-and-a-half years ago and I look forward to getting involved.

“Given the ongoing economic climate, the job will not be an easy one, but I am confident that with the set-up, business model and facilities we have here we can increase revenue streams in line with the club’s aspirations to become a community club.

“We already have a number of plans in place to open the club five days a week, maximising the fantastic facilities we have and creating a permanent social side to the club.

“Fans can expect to see a number of exciting events added to the calendar over the coming months.”

Club chairman Neal Butterworth is thrilled with Coole’s arrival, adding: “His experience and knowledge will be a great asset and we’re confident we can really begin to move forward in this department, not only for the club’s benefit, but to the benefit of our sponsors and partners too.”

Coole has to pass the FA’s directors’ and owners’ test before his appointment is officially ratified.
