BUCKLAND ATHLETIC 3 BRIDPORT 3

RYAN Dovell netted his 50th goal in Bridport colours as the visitors were denied all three points at the Heath with virtually the last kick of the game.

The striker put the Bees 3-2 up in the second half of the Toolstation Western League Premier Division encounter before Rob Farkins struck in the fifth minute of injury time.

Despite seeing his side held to a draw, Bridport boss Trevor Senior, whose team hosts Bishop Sutton on Saturday (3pm), was still pleased with a point.

“To concede a goal with literally the last kick of the match is always disappointing,” he said. “But we played really well again and are now five games unbeaten in league and cup.

“We would have taken a point before the game so we’re not too disappointed.

“That is two good away performances from us in our last two but the four points we’ve picked up won’t count for anything if we don’t get a result tomorrow.

“Bishop Sutton have picked up after a poor start to the season but hopefully we can make home advantage count.”

Senior was quick to praise Dovell for his half-century of goals for the club and is pleased to see the centre-forward linking up so effectively with Matt Cond-liffe.

Dovell put Bridport in front in only the second minute at the Heath, planting a diving header from Chris Luke’s cross past Kenny Griffiths in the Buckland goal.

But the hosts stormed ahead with two cracking strikes from Lucas Burgess and Gavin Ham-mon to turn the game on its head.

A mistake by Griffiths allowed Condliffe to level seven minutes before the break and Dovell grabbed his second on the hour, firing past Liam McAuley who had replaced the injured Grif-fiths.

The win looked to be Bridport’s until deep into time added on when Farkins’ effort deflected past the helpless Ashley Weeks.

First-choice keeper Sam Filkins comes back into the side on Saturday while Chris Senior and Max Buckler could feature, but Chris Clarke is out after picking up a knee injury at Buckland.

“I feel sorry for Ashley Weeks,” added Senior. “In the two games he has played for us he has conceded six goals and not had a chance with any of them.”
