THE ground was shaking all around Dorchester RFC’s Coburg Road home when all of the county town’s first schools came together for a day of tag rugby.

Sports leaders from Dorchester Middle School helped out as the Year Three and Four pupils enjoyed a training session and tournament.

The youngsters were introduced to tackle bags among the array of skill stations before the competitive matches got under way.

Players put into practice what they had learnt earlier in the day and impressed their parents and teachers watching from the sidelines.

St Mary’s Charminster took the victory with excellent teamwork, speed and agility, and sports co-ordinator Levi Dailey was thrilled with how the event went.

He said: “Dorchester RFC bent over backwards to ensure the young pupils enjoyed themselves.

“I have to mention the Year 8 pupils that ran the skills stations with such enthusiasm that I had parents asking if they could have a go.

“A big thank you must go to the sports leaders at Dorchester Middle School.”
