PUPILS showed off their basketball skills in two fantastic competitions run by the Dorchester Area Schools Partnership.

Dorchester schools played at a tournament where Winterbourne Valley came out the victors, while the Puddletown Schools event saw Piddle Valley take the title.

The action on show at both competitions was frenetic with plenty of baskets being sunk by all those that took part.

DASP sports co-ordinator Levi Dailey said: “It is truly amazing to see so many schools enjoy playing in a tournament, win, lose or draw.

“The pupils in Years Three and Four were all buzzing regardless of the score in their matches, and that is what sport is all about.”

He went on to add: “With the staff and parents watching their children it became clear that these Year Three and Four pupils were role models in sport, not only through how they played but more importantly how they reacted to playing in an area tournament.

“A massive thank you must also go to the Year Eight sports leaders, in particular Beth Leonard and Sarah Horsler, who ran the tournament beautifully.”
