TERRAS: Squad could be strengthened for Chesham
JASON Matthews is hoping to bring in another new face ahead of Saturday’s home clash with high-flying Chesham United (3pm).
Following confirmation of yesterday’s postponement at Truro City, the Weymouth caretaker-manager was straight on the phone trying to add to his squad as he continues his bid to turn around the club’s fortunes.
The Terras have picked up seven points from four games since Matthews took charge but the visit of the Generals could well be his biggest test yet.
Chesham currently lie third in the Calor Southern Premier Division and have already got one over on Weymouth in the FA Trophy earlier this season.
Looking ahead to this weekend’s clash, Matthews told Echosport: “To be honest, I was quite happy when the Truro game was called off because it has given me more of a chance to bring another body in for Saturday.
“I have certainly been on the case and hopefully I’ll have another update on that soon.
“We will just have to wait and see if it comes off.”
Matthews went on to add: “Chesham is going to be a big test and that is why I am glad the lads got a bit more time to rest this week.
“It would have been a bit of a bog and a battle at Truro but now we can start fresh tonight and prepare right for Saturday.”
Nine other games were also postponed yesterday in the Calor Southern Premier where the Terras currently sit in 15th place.
