FOOTBALL: Senior calls on fans to back Bees

Dorset Echo: UNAVAILABLE: Chris Senior, left, misses out tomorrow UNAVAILABLE: Chris Senior, left, misses out tomorrow

TREVOR Senior is urging fans to turn out in force for Bridport’s home clash against Melksham tomorrow (3pm).

The recent wet weather has left many Western League clubs feeling the pinch and the Bees are no different.

Bridport have played just one fixture at St Mary’s Field so far this year and, after this weekend, face another five weeks without a home game.

Boss Senior explained: “Hopefully we can get Saturday’s game on because we need it.

“After this weekend, unless something gets rearranged, our next home game won’t be until March 29.

“We have not got a game a week on Saturday, which seems ludicrous after all the postponements we have had, and then we have got a run of four away games.

“In fact, the only match that is still waiting to be rearranged is the Slimbridge one, and that is also away.

“That is why it is important, from the club’s point of view, that we get a few down there watching tomorrow.

Dorchester Town and Weymouth are both away, so hopefully the locals will come down and see us.”

Chris Senior and Ashley Staines will both miss the Melksham clash through work commitments but apart from that Senior should have plenty of options to choose from.

He added: “We beat them 2-0 at their place in the Les Phillips Cup earlier in the season but they are a decent side and possess a couple of forwards who tend to score quite a few goals for them.

“It should be a good game and hopefully we can come away with the points.”

Melksham currently sit ninth in the Toolstation Western Premier Division, eight points above the Bees, who lie 14th.
