SOUTH CHERITON 1
UPWEY & BROADWEY 5
Although Reynolds’ squad was down to the bare bones with just 12 players to choose from, goals from Richie Frost, Charlie May, Rory Lane, Phil Anderson and Ethan Devaney meant that the threadbare Redlands outfit came away with all three points.
On his side’s performance, Reynolds told Echosport: “We got down there and I said to the lads that some of them had to play in different positions, and they responded brilliantly.
“We were down to 11 when Richie Frost limped off just before half-time, but as players there is no pressure when it’s like that and as a manager you can’t pick the wrong team when you don’t have any others to choose from.”
Reynolds also had to persuade goalkeeper Nick Gregg to make a one-off appearance, after a back problem has kept him out of contention for most of the sea-son.
And with Frost out for what could be the rest of the league campaign, Reynolds will be hoping to gather some of the weekend’s absentees to return for their clash against Blandford United Reserves this evening (6.30pm).
He added: “I should think it will probably be a similar squad and we will go there hoping to get another win.
“My aim at the start of the year was to win the league, if I didn’t think I could do that I would chuck it in straight away, but now we can’t do that we want to try and finish as high up as we can.”
