A GROUP of avid Terras’ fans have raised a grand total of £2,449 to help towards the club’s funds for next season, as they travelled up and down the region following the side throughout the campaign.
The collective known as the ‘Old Gits’ made up of Peter Richardson, Ian White, Dave Parsons, Bob Croucher and Tony McDonnell, have each donated a pound for every goal and every point Weymouth first team accumulated throughout the 2013/14 campaign, along with considerable donations from 10 other loyal Terras’ fans.
Richardson told Echosport: “The idea came about bec-ause when we go away I collect football programmes, I saw the idea and thought that it would be an easy way to raise money.
“We go home and away and we all decided to give £1 for every point and every goal for the first team.”
Terras’ boss Jason Matthews also expressed his gratitude to the supporters, he added: “It’s a fantastic achievement and, on behalf of the club, I would like to thank them all for their effort and contribution.”
