MORE than 100 teams from across the county and beyond took part in Chickerell United Youth’s annual tournament at Budmouth College.
The football on show did not fail to disappoint as sides from under-7 to under-16 levels made the most of the two-day event.
And while teams from Wales and the West Midlands enjoyed success there were also some good performances from clubs closer to home, including the hosts.
Chickerell reached the semi-finals in more than one age group and triumphed in the under-16s category.
Visiting Welsh outfit Treharris beat Weymouth 3-0 to win the under-10 trophy, Bridport defeated Coventrians 2-1 after extra-time to do likewise at under-12 level, and Dorchester Raiders edged out Portland 1-0 to claim the under-14 final.
Those aged seven to nine played non-competitive matches and all players received medals at the end.
Organisers would like to thank Budmouth Technology College, club officials, referees, helpers, volunteers, runners and the players for making it such a fantastic event.
Thanks also go to the sponsors, including CG Fry & Son (tournament sponsor), the100company (trophy and pitch), Lazy Lunches (referees and pitch), Bluebird Coaches, Unipart, Advoco, Meister Emson, CBA Scaffolding, Weyline Taxis and Jewson (all pitch sponsors).
