LULWORTH LUNCH: Cruisers in the bay

First published in Sport by , Afloat

FIVE Weymouth and Portland Cruising Association boats left Weymouth last Sunday for a day’s cruise to Lulworth Cove. With plenty of sunshine and a gentle breeze, Beth, Cornish Lady, Dark Star, Wych Mistress and Adelaide made good progress for the first hour.

Gradually the wind dropped and to reach Lulworth for lunch, Dark Star and Adelaide decided to motorsail.

The remainder opted for lunch on the move as they continued sailing, all except Cornish Lady who sailed all the way and motor-sailed back to Weymouth.

It was a pleasant day out and whetted appetites for future cruises.

Another day’s sail in scheduled in two weeks before the start of some longer overnight cruises.
