VISITORS to this year’s Nunney International Horse Trials will be entered into a free draw to win a visit to the yard of the Badminton winner Sam Griffiths.

Griffiths, who is based at Gillingham and was a member of the Australian team at London 2012, is a staunch supporter of the horse trials and as a committee member and official ambassador, provides invaluable feedback.

Organiser Alisa Hunter-Gordon said: “Since we moved to our new venue at Southfield House three years ago, Griffiths has given us invaluable advice from a competitor’s point of view which means we are constantly improving the event.

“The yard visit will be open to everyone who comes to Nunney across the three days and we will draw the winner on the Sunday.

“Sam is incredibly popular and now that he has added the Badminton title to his wins, we are sure the free draw will be a real bonus for visitors.”

The horse trials take place at Southfield House near Frome from Friday, June 13 to Sunday, June 15, and many famous names from the sport of eventing will be competing including Zara Phillips, who has entered both CG Master Lux and Mr Murt in the CIC*** class, Kitty King and Paul Tapner, Griffiths said: “It’s such a great event and very well organised and I recommend anyone to go along and visit.

“There’s a terrific atmosphere in the main arena where all the showjumping takes place, and the cross country courses offer the chance to witness the thrill of jumping fences at speed.”

Entry to the horse trials is free on Friday, with Saturday and Sunday costing £12 per car. Classes range from BE100, which is novice level, to a CIC2* which is an international class.

There will be a range of local trade stands surrounding the main arena, and a food corner selling local food.
