CRICKET: UPDATE: Scott shines as Dorset deliver in Herefordshire
HEREFORDSHIRE 151 & 176 lost to DORSET 120 & 210-6 by 4 wickets
DORSET completed their first three-day Minor Counties Champ-ionship triumph since 2012, as Chris Park’s men secured a memorable four-wicket wicket win over Here-fordshire at Eastnor this evening.
Ryan Scott, son of Middlesex Head coach Richard Scott, produced an unbeaten 77 batting at number three in the second innings, as the visitors chased down 208 to win in 63 overs.
County skipper Chris Park was full of praise for the young batsman, pictured, he told Echosport: “Ryan batted out of his skin and he was the young lad who put his hand up and won us the game.
“We went out with a little bit of confidence but the pitch wasn’t great, the ball wasn’t bouncing and it was spinning aggressively.
“In his third or fourth game to bat as responsibly as he did for three or four hours was absolutely first class.”
Earlier in the day, vice-captain Jake Lintott snared four wickets as the Herefordshire innings closed on 176.
Tom Hicks also continued his fine form with the ball from the previous day, grabbing two further scalps to claim nine victims in the match overall.
Park added: “We were under pressure for a lot of the game again but the bowlers all did a fantastic job in the morning to set things up.
“It is great for the young lads, we had hands up at the end to see whose first Championship win that was and it was about seven or eight which shocked me a little bit, but the guys were superb.”
