CONFIDENCE IS HIGH: Chris Park

CONFIDENCE IS HIGH: Chris Park

DORSET skipper Chris Park is looking to “keep the ball rolling” as his side return to Dean Park to clash with Oxfordshire in a three-day contest starting tomorrow (11am).

The county completed their first triumph in the longer form of the game since 2012 with a four-wicket win at Herefordshire last time out, and with an unchanged XI, the captain is hoping that consistency in selection will bring the same outcome.

“We want to keep the ball rolling and hopefully play well again. We have named an unchanged side, which hopefully creates a bit of confidence,” he told Echosport.

“Normally there are discussions about selection with comings and goings but confidence is high and everybody is available.

“There is a bit of belief now that is filtering through, we have had a couple of positive performances and we want to take them into this game.”

But the skipper is well aware of the threat Oxfordshire poses.

In one-day action, the visitors have reached the final of the Unicorns Knockout Trophy this term and boast former Middlesex and Sussex paceman Chad Keegan in their ranks.

Commenting on Keegan, Park added: “He is a good professional and a good bowler that we need to keep an eye on but it will be competitive and we always have good games with them.

“There is nothing to be scared of, we just need to think about our own game and be as competitive as we were last time.”

All-rounder Mike Kitson remains in the squad despite only bowling four overs and scoring three runs on debut in Herefordshire, but Park is expecting his new recruit to be more involved this time around.

“I’m excited to see more of Mike Kitson,” he added.

“Conditions up in Herefordshire didn’t allow us to see his full repertoire, but we will hope to get a few more overs from him.”

Spectators are also asked to bring their own seating to the game.
