THE Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation is organising the largest race in the world on Sunday, September 21.
The aim of ‘Bart’s Bash’ is to raise money for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation Charity, set a new Guinness world record and very importantly remember Simpson.
The Sherborne sailor, known as Bart, tragically died in a training accident in San Fransisco Bay while preparing for the America’s Cup in May 2013.
Entry to Bart’s Bash is open with the opportunity to donate money to the charity.
As Simpson spent a lot of time, particularly in recent years in the bay and training at both the WPNSA and WSC, it is anticipated that support for the event will be high.
WPNSA and Weymouth Sailing Club (WSC) are collaborating on the event.
The Andrew Simpson Sailing Academy was officially opened in May at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy and offers courses and sailing experiences.
