TITLE rivals Martinstown and Dorchester start their top-four tests in Group A of Premier Two tomorrow and know that any slip-ups could be vital in their bid to join Premier One next term.

Dan Belt’s Dorchester host Bere Regis at the Rec (1pm) and the skipper realises his side must win at all costs to keep the pressure on the league leaders, having lost to Martinstown last weekend. “We just need to put the doubts behind us, get back into winning ways and get back into a winning position in the league,” he told Echosport.

“If you win all six games from now you should go up, we just need to pick up as many points from each game.

“Martinstown are in the pole position being 20 points ahead, we have to hope they lose two games and if that’s against us that would be great.”

Will Caldwell and James Dunham are back in the county town’s XI, replacing Matt Porter and Jamie Ganaway, and Belt knows his side will be out for revenge after suffering an eight-run loss at Bere Regis just two weekends ago.

He added: “In the last game we played against them we should have won it easily enough and we let it slip so it will be a game that we want to prove to everyone that we can win.”

Elsewhere in the division, Martinstown skipper Ed Nichols says there is no pressure on his side going into the final six games of the Premier Two season as they head to Sherborne (1pm).

They have already beaten tomorrow’s opponents home and away this year, and another maximum haul the third time round would be a great boost to their chances of promotion.

“There isn’t really any pressure on us because at the start of the year we just wanted to be in the top four,” said Nichols.

“A few years ago the club never thought of playing in the top league, but if it comes off it would be great and we would look forward to it.”

In County Division Two, Dorchester Seconds are away to Bournemouth Thirds, Portland Red Triangle host Stalbridge Seconds and Beaminster visit Wimborne & Colehill Thirds.

n Bridport travel to Broadstone Thirds in Division Three, while Abbotsbury entertain Lytchett and Blandford Seconds are the opposition for Portland Red Triangle Seconds in Division Four.

Charlton Down can seal promotion from Division Five when they face Puddletown.
