WEYMOUTH 2 HITCHIN TOWN 2
WEYMOUTH maintained their unbeaten home record in the Southern Premier League this season, but they left it late to secure a point in a 2-2 draw with resilient Hitchin Town.
The Terras were in dreamland early on when Adam Kelly’s sweet left-foot volley hit the back of the net from a well-worked corner, after Hitchin failed to clear their lines.
But after a bright opening 20 minutes, Jason Matthews’ men were pegged back just before half time when Matt Lench latched on to Brett Donnelly’s knockdown three minutes before the break.
The visitors frustrated the home side in the second half and Donnelly made a nuisance of himself up front to constantly tangle with the Weymouth backline.
And his persistence paid off as he grabbed a goal to put his side ahead on 74 minutes.
But up stepped Stewart Yetton to latch on to a ball from deep and strike it into the back of the net to claim a point for the Terras.
