DORCHESTER will have a “point to prove” when they take on Wimborne in the Dorset Senior Cup semi-finals, according to first-team coach Stuart Heath.

Wimborne meet the county town side at the Avenue tonight (7.45pm) four months after knocking the hosts out of the FA Trophy.

But with the home team continuing to climb the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division under Mark Jermyn, Heath believes it is a very different Dorchester that Wimborne will be facing this evening.

“When you are winning games you want to keep the momentum going, whatever competition you are playing in,” he said. “And we’ve certainly got a point to prove against Wimborne.

“We are constantly trying to evolve and progress as a team, and we’ve also got the added incentive of playing a side that beat us in another cup competition earlier this season.

“That defeat in the FA Trophy was down to our mentality, but we’re a different club now and it’s up to us to prove that with a strong performance.”

He added: “And whatever competition it is, if you get through to the semi-final you then want to reach the final.

“The best four clubs are left in the Dorset Senior Cup and we have all got the same mentality.

“If you’ve got to this stage, you have to go on and win it, that’s certainly our approach anyway.”

Other than Nick Crittenden, who suffered mild concussion and sore ribs in a challenge with Histon captain Stuart Wall last Saturday, Dorchester should be at full strength tonight.
