WEYMOUTH RESERVES 12

CRANBORNE 0

WEYMOUTH Reserves’ boss Bradley Asagba was still not fully happy despite his side winning 12-0 against lowly Cranborne in the Dorset Premier League on Saturday.

The hosts were 3-0 up at half-time through Sanchez Jansz-Baker, Anthony Carlile and Conor Jevon.

But they turned on the afterburners scoring another nine in the second half.

Carlile completed his hat-trick, Sanchez added another before Edgar Zanin, Ashley Turner and Samuel Jackson all got themselves on the scoresheet.

Lewis Clark rounded off the rout with a hat-trick of his own after coming on as a substitute, but the boss still felt his side could have performed better.

He said: “I’m not going to say we were brilliant. I could pick faults in our game but circumstances made it easier.

“The conditions favoured us, we could play our football. And give credit to them (Cranborne), they didn’t come to sit back, they came and had a go which you have to admire.

“We had a frank discussion at half-time because we spurned so many chances, and we made some changes to give us a different impetus.

“In the end I think we got a scoreline that reflected our dominance.”

Along with their 12 goals, the Terras also had a man sent off, playing 25 minutes of the second half with 10 men after goalkeeper Matthew Peart was sent to the stands for handling outside of his area.

A ball played over the top caught the Weymouth backline off

guard and Peart rushed off his line to make the save, which the referee had judged to be outside the box, although Asagba felt

his stopper had been harshly treated.

However it didn’t affect the team as goals kept flying in at a steady rate. Jackson came off the bench to score his three goals and has given his manager something to think about heading into Saturday’s away game against Merley Cobham Sports.

“He (Clark) is a really class operator,” the manager added. “He brings a lot to the table, not just with his quality, but with his attitude.

“It’s just unfortunate we haven’t had him available for much of the season, but now he should be available for all of the run-in."

“Lewis is getting up to speed and a player of his class will always be in contention.”

Along with Clark’s hat-trick, there were six other scorers including Jackson’s first goal for the club.

“It was nice to see him score and we hope that it can be the first of many,” Asagba said.
